Nothing has worked in the loot shooter Destiny 2 since last night. After an unsuccessful update, a bug in Wins caused the developer to pull the ripcord and start emergency maintenance. For many gamers, this was just another sign that Bungie’s best player was slowly but surely falling apart.
What are the problems with Destiny 2? Bungie’s shooter has been around since 2017 and has been around for a few years now. While everything looks solid from the outside, there are often strange bugs in the game that Bungie struggles with.
The list is long and could go on here. However, he must make it clear that he now feels to players as if Destiny 2 is slowly crumbling under a multitude of problems. And that’s where the next massive “Lightfall” DLC is just under a month away.
More and more errors lead to bigger problems: Destiny 2 has seen a significant increase in bugs over the past few months. One look is enough At Bungie’s support account. New seasons, options, systems and levels are coming, but they make it clear race support more often than not, which may also affect the future.
Destiny 2: Lightfall will radically change the building system – it is supposed to be a fresh start
While there were months and weeks between reported bugs, now it’s often just days. At the turn of the year alone, a huge list was collected that Bungie had to work on in the new year.
Even the developer had to admit in the past that the outdated Tiger engine blocked game development in some places and led to issues that took longer to resolve.
Destiny 2 players may have become accustomed to the shooter’s signature quirks – albeit frustratingly. However, the increase in bugs also seems to make the game itself becoming increasingly unreliable. And the community’s confidence that Bungie is still up to it is also waning.
Some guardians, like Toni, are considering getting a girlfriend:
So many gamers are of the opinion that Destiny 3 might have been the best solution and have shared it on Twitter.
“Destiny 3” is trending on Twitter
This is what the community says: the Player Kieron Stewart And several other Guardians have caused a “Destiny 3” hashtag to pop up on Twitter as players squabble over the shooter’s future and stability.
They feel that given the current state of Destiny 2, Bungie made a mistake in making their decision against Destiny 3 and arguably a new engine as well.
Destiny 2 is officially scheduled to run until 2024. Then the last announced content will be released as the “Final Form”.
Other players, like Tipsy, are proposing to delay the launch of the new “Lightfall” DLC. So writes the guard via Twitter:
I wouldn’t have a problem with them delaying Lightfall and taking the time to fix everything they need in the game. People have to be patient and find other things to do. I just wish Bungie would do it because I’ve never seen so many problems with a game at once.
Tipsy player explains on Twitter
Maybe there will be no Destiny 3: However, Destiny 3 will likely never happen. Bungie mastermind Luke Smith only commented on this in June 2022. As he explained, they are in the process of expanding the Destiny brand. So, Bungie’s mission going forward is to “think about making Destiny a universe with […] endures and lasts beyond one MMO project.”
Mastermind Luke Smith talks about the future of Destiny 2: the need to ‘restart the engines’
According to Bungie’s job postings, Destiny 2’s Tiger engine will continue to serve as the foundation for many of the studio’s AAA titles in the future.
Perhaps Destiny 3 allowed Bungie to be a little more flexible. But don’t be so naive as to think it will fix everything perfectly, make it better, or make content creation easy.
It remains to be hoped that Bungie will still live up to its many years of competence and put fate in its place. From time to time you just have to kick the “old mill” to get it started and also reach its “final shape”.
