Love in times of war: Vox presents the counter program of world events with its pair skating show. And also brings hearts as former Red Light King Bert Wallersheim and his wife, Ginger Costello, to the camera. Can love handle a 35 year age difference? by FOCUS author Beate Strobel.
“I try very hard to stop the decay,” admits Bert Wallersheim (71), who was once a big fish in Dusseldorf’s red-light environment, and today is a colorful bird at Celebrity Zoo. He’ll be 72 soon if his lungs want him to. The fact that even the bleached hair and numerous tattoos on his aging body could no longer hide. His fourth wife, Ginger Costello-Wollersheim, 36 – born Yvonne Schaueffler – is 35 years younger than the former brothel owner. “You can age a little faster,” he wishes her, half jokingly.
They met in Mallorca, a minute later there was the first quarrel, three months later they got married. “I never tired of looking at her face,” Burt says fondly of his fourth wife. Even if not much of Ginger’s face is in pristine condition. “Your original lips were elegant,” Bert enthuses — still accompanying his wife to the plastic surgeon. Love is when you simply accept some things – for the sake of a person.
Bert Wallersheim: Emotional words after a stroke
In the docu-soap “Wo die Liebe hinfallen” Vox brings together on-camera couples who don’t necessarily belong at first sight. Couples who are at the beginning of a relationship or where the end is already in sight. And also those whose lives are messed up by their love story. Filming into something as intimate as a romantic relationship is always a bit voyeuristic, often tense, or irrelevant. But this time he surprises Bert Wallersheim with touching sentences in reality.
Blackie Fuschsberger already knew that aging is not for cowards. And if you grew up next to a younger partner, you have to be especially brave. Bert Wollersheim worries that he won’t be able to keep up with his young wife for much longer: as a longtime smoker, he suffers from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, a chronic lung disease. Even walking around with his wife’s small handbags made Walrashim gasp. However, he carries her bag behind her and stands on her SUP. It’s a shame, he says, “that we won’t grow old together.”
However, the bullets are getting closer. At an event, Wollersheim suffers a minor stroke. If the next Ginger turns out to be harder, he doesn’t want Ginger to waste his time at his bedside: “I’ll set you free,” he tells her over a video call. But she doesn’t want to be free at all: “You are the love of my life,” she exclaims happily to him. Even if her life would far exceed his.
young love? Or a bitter rebuff?
Young love, on the other hand, is with Amalia: the 20-year-old fell in love with Greek lifeguard Alexandros online without ever seeing him in person. Now the two meet for the first time. She is taller than him, and this clearly annoys the young Greek. She explains to him that as a guest at her parents’ house, he sleeps best on the living room sofa. “I’m about to fall in love a little bit,” she admits to Vox anyway, blushing slightly.
The two young men travel to Berlin together for a few days, and one of them is almost happy that the filming team will leave the two alone, at least for the evening. And only in the morning he asks bluntly what happened between the two of them. “I feel a little warmth on his part,” she says cautiously. “I would say I love him.” Alexandros’ promise to meet again on Lesvos in the summer seems hesitant.
very hesitant. So Amalia travels to Greece, with Vox at her heels, to surprise Alexandros. He also looks surprised and unfortunately not really excited. Soon she sensed that he did not want to go to Lesbos with her. And this is the end of what started so promisingly online. Let’s stay friends? “I’m disappointed,” she says. However: in spite of everything, she does not want to miss the time of waiting, hoping and dreaming. Because love always means daring.
After a Porn Confession: Karsten Spengman Shocked by His Screen
Then there’s the TV presenter Carsten Spengemann (50) and his girlfriend Monique Edel (43): in 2022 the blonde freight writer is revealed as a former porn actress, whom Spengemann didn’t know. “Seeing that was the worst,” he says. Although, of course, no one forced him to watch sex films. Still, he sticks to his partner: “She’s still Mooney.” The drama of their past movie made them stronger as a couple, says Spingman: “Checked and done!” Love means not having to ask for forgiveness: that’s what Tearjerker’s “Love Story” taught us. In fact, Vox says so, too. Only in so many seasons.
